Canada's New Border Security Act is an important step forward for border security and integrity. The Act addresses key concerns in the area of fentanyl trafficking, money laundering, the movement of illicit goods, and human smuggling. It advances opportunities for cooperation and information-sharing for which FBC has long advocated. But the work is not done yet! Next steps include close collaboration with border businesses on implementation, continued coordination with the U.S. on interoperability, and deployment of best available digital technology tools in order to provide decision support for the men and women working on our borders.
